To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee

Rating (Out of 5): 5

Genre: Crime, Drama, Mystery

Review: Scout Finch is a 6 year old girl living in segregated Maycomb, Alabama. She and her brother, Jem, are the children of Atticus Finch, a lawyer. Scout and Jem lead fairly normal lives, having adventures with their neighbor Dil Harris. They have all sorts of adventures, from getting into fights to sneaking into the yard of their reclusive neighbor, Arthur "Boo" Radley. Then their whole view on life changes when Atticus agrees to defend a black man, Tom Robinson, in court. This is a moving story about growing up and facing life. It's a very inspirational book. My only criticism is that the first part is a little boring, otherwise it's an amazing novel. There is a lot of hidden meaning, so if this is a school mandated book, I would suggest checking out Sparknotes after every chapter.
